A FAMILY TRADITION

For the last 14 years we have gone on a holiday to the snow with my family. Though the family consistency has changed over the years (we kids dated around for a bit) and the destination changes frequently, the week is always filled with warmth, games, cheese platters, wine and laughter. This years trip took us to Les Menuires, Les 3 Vallees in France. May there be many more editions of this lovely family tradition!

DENMARK MINI BREAK: PART I

Last week we took a little break from work, packed up our stuff and went camping in Denmark. We stayed on this lovely small camping near Silkeborg. The weather was great, the scenery beautiful, we ate like kings/queens on our little camping stove and slept blissfully in our cosy little tent. Ow, how we love camping!! Pictures were taken in/near Silkeborg, Aarhus, Ebeltoft & Legoland.

THAT'S HOW WE ROLL

My bf convinced me to go on a bike trip this weekend. A 150km bike ride divided over two days to be exact. I had never attempted anything like this before, and was a bit worried the 90km ride on the first day would be a bit much for me. However now that it is all over I'm happy to conclude that I'm perfectly fine, apart from a sour buttocks! The weather was perfect apart and it's nice to explore the area around our city. I might even be in for a do-over in the future!

We spend the night in bovenkarspel, here.

ETERSHEIM

A few weeks ago we jumped on the motor and drove 30 minutes north of Amsterdam to a tiny village called Etersheim as part of our plan to explore the areas around Amsterdam a bit more this year. We stayed in a cute bed and breakfast in an old church, walked around to explore the surrounding, had a lovely dinner in Edam and played trivial pursuit (I won!). Even though Etersheim is very close to our capital it truly seems like miles away. A perfect place to relax a bit while still being in arms reach of your own home.

'T TWISKE

This weekend we went for a walk in 't twiske, a recreational area a little outside of Amsterdam. It's huge and has lots to offer: swimming, sailing, diving, surfing, cycling, horse riding and walking. In the summer it's pretty busy, but we love the peace and quiet of a rainy autumn day.
