FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I'm currently working on setting up a cultural food blog with a friend. This means I'm learning tons when it comes to food photography. We are scheduled to launch in early april and I'm so excited. Stay tuned!

PS. You can find the recipe for the delicious beet soup pictured below here.

NEW YEAR, NEW RESOLUTIONS

And just like that 2013 was gone! And what a special year it has been. But 2014 has many exciting things in store for us. We already have trips to France and Madeira planned, but of course by far the most exciting thing will be our wedding in the summer!

Now I never believed in New Years Resolutions. However my bf (or actually fiancĂ©e, but I find that I prefer to say bf) is a big fan of making list and New Years Resolutions. So last year we wrote down our joined and personal resolutions for 2013. On New Years Eve we checked out our list and found we pretty much achieved everything we set out to achieve in 2013. So maybe this resolution thing ain't such a bad thing. Maybe, I should get on board.

So here are some of my resolutions for 2014;

  • Expanding my photography portfolio with wedding and food photography
  • Set up a cultural food blog with one of my best friends
  • Get my motorcycle license
  • Go on a hike with my significant other once a month
  • Explore more of the beautiful buildings/places in and around Amsterdam

Cheers, to one hell of a year!

MERRY AND BRIGHT

Hope you all had (and have) a wonderful Christmas this year. Ours Christmas ritual consists off; a lovely dinner with our parents, great music, thoughtful gifts and a beautiful boxing day hike.

VSCO Grid

I've been using VSCO to edit my camera pictures for a while now but I finally got a new phone this week which enabled me to install VSCO Cam! Check out my (still slightly empty) VSCO Grid here!

A MINUTE IN ... JULY

Picture is taken with my Nikon D700 & 50mm 1.8D lens.

Reading... Lucky Peach Magazines, Jivamukti Yoga
Listening... oldies on the record player (Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Dire Straits, Rod Steward, David Bowie etc)
Watching... Man of Steel, Olympus has fallen, Oblivion and GI Retaliation. All obvious bf choices. Making... salmon taco’s and lots of BBQ experimenting!
Loving... learning how to ride a motorcycle. It is so much fun! And that the summer weather is finally here. And all the amazing trips that are still in store for this year!
Wanting... nothing more. Life is pretty damn good!

THIS WEEKEND

*I rode a motorcycle for the first time. It was amazing. I'm totally hooked. I hope to have my license later this year.
*We started packing for our short camping trip to Denmark later this week. We are looking forward to it and the weather is looking very good indeed!
*I gave away vegetable cuttings to anyone who wanted to have them (nobody told me not to plant all the seeds as they might actually all come out).
*I made the tasty Spicy Vegetable Soup with Peanut from New Covent Garden Soup Co.
*We watched Man of Steel, which I enjoyed more than I expected.
*We got our 'country' on and listened to oldies but goodies like Mark Knopfler and The Eagles.

HERE COMES THE KING

Yesterday was a special day for us. After 33 years our Queen made way for her son. For the first time since 123 years our country has a king again. For my generation this is the first abdication of a monarch we could witness. Naturally there were a lot of festivities in the city. 'Lucky' for us our neighbourhood was the stage of one of the official events. Friends & family came over, there was food and plenty of drinks, and the afternoon sun made it a good day to be outside. A recipe for a great 'last' Queensday.

WORKSPACE 2.0

I've spend years editing my pictures on a tiny laptop on my bed & couch. When we moved to a bigger apartment last May I finally had room for a desk. The laptop stuck around though. But the 'old gal' began to have issues with running heavy editing programs like photoshop & lightroom. Time for an upgrade. After some research I decided to go for a Dell ultrasharp monitor combined with a Mac Mini, and so far I have no regrets apart from that I should have done this a long time ago!

HAPPY SNAPPING

DSLR are heavy and don't quite fit in that cool clutch. So sometimes your only option is your phone. I find it fun to document the little things in life. For me this comes down to mostly food, cat, home and city pictures.

SUNDAY IS FOR READING, MUSIC, FOOD, FLOWERS AND THOUGHT

Life can get busy. I never been one to relax, but last year I started to appreciate the art of doing nothing. So this years resolution is to keep my sundays wide open and not plan ahead so much. Because let's face it, not much beats a lazy sunday!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Not really a 'holiday' we usually celebrate in my house, but since my bf informed me yesterday to keep tonight open, I'm not taking any chances and baking some heart shaped cookies!

May you all have a lovely Valentine's Day!

WINTER IS COMING!

Last weekend we said goodbye to daylight saving time. The days are suddenly getting darker and colder. There is something melancholic about this season, which I love. Bring out the candles, sweaters and hot chocolate. Winter is coming!
