Etersheim

A few weeks ago we jumped on the motor and drove 30 minutes north of Amsterdam to a tiny village called Etersheim as part of our plan to explore the areas around Amsterdam a bit more this year. We stayed in a cute bed and breakfast in an old church, walked around to explore the surrounding, had a lovely dinner in Edam and played trivial pursuit (I won!). Even though Etersheim is very close to our capital it truly seems like miles away. A perfect place to relax a bit while still being in arms reach of your own home.

Here comes the king

Yesterday was a special day for us. After 33 years our Queen made way for her son. For the first time since 123 years our country has a king again. For my generation this is the first abdication of a monarch we could witness. Naturally there were a lot of festivities in the city. 'Lucky' for us our neighbourhood was the stage of one of the official events. Friends & family came over, there was food and plenty of drinks, and the afternoon sun made it a good day to be outside. A recipe for a great 'last' Queensday.
